ABOUT THE ARTIST

Paul Tzanetopoulos is a conceptually-based artist who uses many media. His large-scale interactive works utilize light, digital media, video, electronic and sound components. Tzanetopoulos was the first artist in Los Angeles to present a video installation projection and computer-run-intermedia work (Ruth Schaffner Gallery, 1974). His work is included in many public and private collections, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s Permanent Collection of 20th Century Art and the Permanent Collection of the United States Consulate General. Tzanetopoulos received an MFA With Honors in Fine Art from the University of California, Irvine, and his BFA With Honors (Outstanding Fine Arts Graduate) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Tzanetopoulos also works in the realm of public art and has completed more than 30 public art commissions since 1992. One of his best-known public art commissions is his award-winning Kinetic Light Installation (untitled) created for the LAX Gateway Pylon Project, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA), Los Angeles, which was inaugurated in August, 2000.
